Senior Statistician

The desired competencies for this position include advanced knowledge of statistics, ability to effectively analyze data and apply to critical business issues, and strong understanding of Six Sigma methodology.  This position is responsible for maintaining and updating previously established market segmentation as well as running new statistical experiments to drive innovative business solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, run and maintain ‘design of experiments’ on critical business issues
  • Provide reports and detailed analysis to identify drivers behind trends and potential business opportunities
  • Develop compelling value propositions and competitive differentiation for our service offerings based on segmentation results
  • Conduct industry analysis to understand the social, economic, political and regulatory environment in support of business planning
  • Design and execute market research projects to answer specific business questions
  • Translate data into innovative analysis and reports and communicate strategic information to business leader
  • Devise and evaluate methods and procedures for collecting industry data
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of research studies and create coherent presentations for leadership
  • Provides insight and recommendations to improve market share growth and student satisfaction
  • Help to identify and resolve issues inhibiting or impeding the implementation of the business plan
  • Analyze customer data, run reports, create segmentation plans, and perform research using analytic tools
  • Collaborate with business units to critically assess their data analysis needs, providing feedback to assist in developing a plan to ensure that the data and reports can be obtained
  • Develop, maintain and deliver necessary documentation to support end-to-end report development including report requirements, specification mock ups, testing scenarios and project management documents.

Qualifications:

Education:

Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or related field is required. PhD is preferred.

Experience:

At least 10 years’ experience in a business statistical environment is required, preferably in Marketing or Corporate Development.  Less than 10 years’ work experience may be considered, if in combination with PhD.  Experience in the for-profit higher education field is desired.

Certification:

Six Sigma Green Belt required/ Black Belt desired.

Skills:

  • Ability to create design of experiments (DOE) to help solve business issues
  • Experience in SQL and other database access methods
  • Expert in Mini-tab, CHAID, or other statistical tools  
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics and the ability to apply to critical business issues
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment and work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communicator who can relate effectively with all levels of management
